In three days I will be flying back home to see my family for the holidays. I am looking forward to seeing my kitty milo and hanging out with my sister. I have not been home since last July when I first moved out here, so I imagine it will be somewhat of a culture shock returning back to the land of suburbia. (aka Roseville/Sacramento) I am praying for no delays at JFK. It's so depressing in the news seeing the poor state of our current air traffic system, the delays, cancellations, etc. Luckily I have no connecting flights elsewhere in the US, so worse case, I get delayed, at least I know I'll make it some at some point. Let's see what else...hmmm, oh, I added some new mp3 clips to my music page. I received a recording of our symphony concert from Dec 5th and decided to post the first piece. I plan to post more, and expand my library with other recordings I have done around the city. Who knows, I may just eventually get a .com domain and transfer all my work to that site, that way I have no limit with space. May be a fun project to do over winter break. Until next time...

finally done with the semester!
Well the semester is finally over and I am very relieved to no longer have class/rehearsals. Overall the semester was pretty easy academic wise, musically, a lot happening. I did a recording session up in midtown and played principal on Gounod's Petite Symphony. Played the Nutcracker suite with the Richmond County Orchestra and did some of recording sessions with the NYU jazz department. Now I finally have time to relax and actually enjoy more of the city with my friends. Going home on the 23rd for a week to see the family, do the x-mas thing, and then I'm back here for work, practice, and lessons.

catching up
Well this semester has flown by very quickly. I am constantly astounded at how fast time flies in the big apple. So far things have been going well. I am playing principal oboe with the Richmond County Orchestra which has been a great experience. Although the pay is not that great, or the long commute, it's good for me to be playing with other outside orchestras. We played some opera works a few weeks ago, Adriana Lecouvreur, and Mascagni's Rusticana Calliveri. Some great moments with the singers. Playing some x-mas gig in a week or so, the Nutcracker suite, and some other ballet tunes I think. Should be exciting. More to come later.
